The state is located in Southern Europe, on the Balkan Peninsula and numerous islands in the Ionian and Aegean Seas, including the island of Crete. The Greek mainland borders Albania, Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria in the north, Turkey in the northeast; it is washed by the seas: the Aegean in the east, the Ionian in the west, the Mediterranean in the south. The population of Greece is 10.43 million people. The time zone is UTC+2.
