General information about the country: The territory is 88,361 km2. A country in southeastern Europe, in the central part of the Balkan Peninsula. It borders with Northern Macedonia to the south, Bulgaria and Romania to the east, Hungary to the north, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina to the west, Montenegro and Albania to the southwest. According to the administrative-territorial division of Serbia, it includes the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, as well as the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, whose territory is not controlled by the Serbian authorities. On February 17, 2008, the Albanian majority of this region unilaterally declared independence, which was recognized by almost all leading Western countries, as well as by most EU member states. The flag of Serbia is a tricolor consisting of horizontal stripes: red, blue and white (from top to bottom). The aspect ratio is two to three. Each strip occupies one third of the panel. Additionally, the small coat of arms of Serbia is depicted on the flag. It is centered vertically, and horizontally located at a distance of 1/7 of the length of the panel from the shaft. A variant without a coat of arms is also allowed for public use. The State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Serbia (Serb. Drzhavni grb Republike Srbije) is one of the symbols of the sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia. It was approved in 2009 along with other state symbols (flag, anthem). The coat of arms depicts a double-headed eagle, a red shield on its chest, and a cross with four flints (Serbian cross) on the shield. A royal crown and a cape are on top. The coat of arms is exactly the same as the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Serbia of the Obrenovich dynasty, first adopted in 1882. The time zone is UTC+1.
