General information about the country: The territory is 780,580 km2. The country is located partly in the southwestern part of Asia, partly in southern Europe. It has land borders with Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran; in the south — with Iraq and Syria; in the west — with Greece, Bulgaria. Turkey is washed by four seas: the Black Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Aegean Sea and the Marmara Sea. Geographically, the Turkish coast of the Mediterranean Sea is clearly divided into two large regions: the western coast to Marmaris with numerous bays and peninsulas belongs to the Aegean Sea, the southern coast starting from Antalya, which is called the "Turkish riviera" because of its long sandy beaches. Administratively, Turkey is divided into 81 provinces. Population according to the Turkish Institute of Statistics, the population of the Turkish Republic is 85.3 million people (national composition: Turks – 80%, Kurds – 17%, as well as Greeks, Armenians, Arabs and other small ethnic groups). The time zone in Turkey is UTC+3.
